BRITA Fill & Go Water Bottle Review & Giveaway!

As part of the Natural Living Series I have teamed up with BRITA water to do a review of the Marella jug and Fill & Go travel filter. In this post I will cover the Fill & Go as I also have a BRITA Fill & Go travel filter in pink to giveaway!

Now, I am not new to water filters, I think most people have them right? BUT do you actually use them? I know I go through phases of using mine, then I run out of filters or get lazy to keep refilling them. Well, I am NOT going to be lazy any more. After doing this review and really thinking about the quality of water I put inside me, and more importantly in Thomas. I am fully committed to drinking better quality water. This handy bottle has the filter built inside the lid so I can drink water on the go, anytime, anywhere.

As I pointed out in my post about my Top Tips for Drinking More Water, tap water quality isn’t the greatest. It contains chemicals and pesticides such as Chlorine, Fluorosilicic acid, Aluminium sulphate, Calcium hydroxide, Sodium silico and even Estrogen hormones. Going through old pipes can also lead to bacteria and lead contamination. Why wouldn’t you filter it? Bottled mineral water can get expensive, and all the wasted plastic isn’t good for the environment. I love the idea of the Fill & Go being better for the environment as it’s a reusable bottle which helps reduce the amount of plastic bottles thrown away everyday.

The BRITA Fill&Go is very stylish. I love the sleek look of the bottle- it’s got to be one of the best looking bottles on the market. It’s available in lots of colours too!

You have to insert a BRITA Fill&Go filter Disc once a week and there are 4 filter discs included with the Fill&Go bottle. Here’s the filter-

The filter significantly reduces chlorine, other taste impairing substances and fine solids. Now, I guess the amount of times you change the filter would depend on the usage (it says one filter disc can filter up to 20 litres of water). I use mine everyday as I take it with me whenever I go out or go to the gym. I also take it to bed with me- I need a whole 0.6L bottle of water at least with all the breastfeeding. So I would need to change mine every week.

The Fill & Go definitely makes the water taste better, the water also seems easier to swallow. I guess this is because a lot of the chlorine and other chemicals have been reduced.  It’s easy to drink from and Thomas loves drinking from it. This is always a plus as it’s so difficult to get him to drink water these days! I think it’s the shape of the bottle and the fact that it’s new, he just loves it. It’s BPA free too so there are no worries with young children using it. My husband also loves it, we have the grey one and so it’s great for men to use too.

It’s easy to clean, dishwasher safe and the filter takes 2 seconds to insert. It has an optional straw with the bottle so you can either sip the water using the straw, or take the straw out and tilt the bottle to get the water (I must say I find it easier not to use the straw and just tip it up).
