Overnight Oats



So I feel a bit wrong posting this as a ‘recipe’ as it’s SO EASY! But I’ve had lots of comments on how you do it- so here goes….

Overnight are just that. Oats left to soak overnight in an airtight container. There are a million variations but all have the same premise- oats, milk and/or yogurt- left over night. Leaving them over night makes them so silky soft- way softer than boiling them and you get the benefits of eating raw oats too!

So I use an old jam jar as a container and fill it up with the following:

  • 1/3 cup of cow’s milk, almond or coconut milk
  • 1/3 cup of oats
  • 1/3 cup yoghurt/coconut yoghurt or kefir (for softer oats you can always just add more milk rather than yoghurt
  • Then comes your variations: I usually add raspberries and blueberries to the jar and leave them to infuse overnight with the oats. But you could add cinnamon, chia seeds, honey….or other types of fruit….or peanut/almond butter….
  • Then as another variation you can add a crunchy topping just before you eat- cereal, muesli, fax, hemp or chia seeds….the list is endless! I used golden linseed in the picture!

There is no excuse that you don’t have time to make breakfast again! These take no time at all in the morning!!!
